Chase the Monday blues away

You can find anything in the library

And yes...not just books and centuries of accumulated knowledge, but who knows, you might find love in the library too!

I think that's how the story of Paul and Ziyan panned out, back in their university days. It was a walk down memory lane as we had a pre-wedding shoot at NUS and its library. I remember the many days I spent idling away at the library, on the pretext of studying (luckily my parents don't read my blog).

I've seen a fair share of love blossom there, and those were indeed romantic days. I'm glad that Paul & Ziyan still had that kind of pure (puppy) love between them.

Almost Trash The Dress (again)

As much as I am enjoying some domestic bliss, I am also blessed by some wonderful couples at some wonderful weddings recently.

One of them is Debbie & Rick, whom some of you might have remembered as the bride who had a "trash the dress" session. Well, this time round, the dress almost got trashed again because of a heavy downpour, but Debbis was really sporting about it.

Basically, I would not say much because there are many photos to share....but Dino, Sean, Chris and I (basically photogs and videographers) had a really good time.

What made it more special was the day was also the bride's mother's birthday.

Happy 42nd birthday, Auntie Regina! (I am just making a guess.)

These 3 cutie pies are triplets!

Baby Brother

I'd really like to thank my friends for their well wishes on the arrival of my second child. So far, it's been a tiring but exciting experience. Even though I am not the one breastfeeding him, I have to wake up throughout the night because I have to carry him and switch his position due to the fact that my wife still suffers pain from her wounds.

Baby Brother (hitherto nameless) is a feisty guzzler who will make sure we hear him when it comes to feeding. It's fun to live through the cycle all over again, since more than two years ago when Yu Wen (my eldest) was born.

Right now, it's still quite easy to juggle between Yu Wen and him, since he konks out most of the time. Yu Wen takes an instant liking to her brother (she has always been amused by babies) and the feel-good factor was reinforced when we bought a big Care Bear and told her that was baby Brother's welcome present for her.

Will post some more pictures next week, when I have more time for him.

New Member

I'd like to announce a new member has joined the Greymatter family:
Baby Brother!

After more than 39 weeks of hard labour, my wife has finally delivered a very heavy baby boy on Monday, at 3.980 kg!

Right after, I had to go for an appointment. Since it's such an auspicious occasion,I hope the couple sign up. :)

The calm before the storm....

Announcing his arrival.

A glare at the man with the camera

Just for Laughs.....It's Monday!

I realise my first love is being a cartoonist. Ha.

Come Full Circle

When I started doing wedding photography, I remembered I could make some refreshing wedding pictures because of my "newspaper" background.

After I turned full-time doing weddings, I tried very hard to become a very good wedding photographer by looking at what other wedding photographers were doing. As time passes, I learn a little bit of this from Photographer X, a little bit of that from Y etc.

In the process of refining the "art" of wedding photography, some of the pictures end up looking like those taken by photographers X, Y & Z combined! Now, as I look around me, and at the wedding photography scene, I realise that there are many good wedding photographers out there, but most of them are taking the same types of pictures, and using the same photoshop actions and almost identical textures!

Sometimes, even a professional eye can't tell the difference, much less a layman.

I must take a different route, if I want to create a niche for myself. I ask myself: what made other people take notice of my work five years ago? Answer? Because I wasn't shooting like a wedding photographer!!

Now, five years on, armed with a new camera that better complements my style of shooting, I seem to have found the new path----the one I should never have left in the first place.

And it was after a 3 weeks' break that I went on my next wedding shoot and boy, do I love the results! Maybe I am biased towards myself, but I wish I can shoot like that or better from now onwards.

(Bumper issue.)
